Hazel Rose Domes
**** This course has now SOLD OUT ****
Tuesday 14 February 2017, 9.45am - 4pm
Arne started creating 'rose domes' at his garden at Guanock House many years ago. The winding of the rose stems around a support slows the sap and causes many more flower buds to form. Not only are there more flowers, but they are held at the perfect height within a border, and with stems that formed a sculptural tracery around almost topiary like structures in the winter. They have become something of a signature, especially since he used them in his Chelsea Show Garden in 2012.
This 2017 workshop will be led by Steve Lannin and Kristy Ramage at Allt-y-bela. Over the day we'll show you the whole process from cutting the hazel to winding the stems of the roses around the finished structure. In the afternoon, it will be hands on, with everyone creating their own domes or plant supports on a fixed base so that they can be taken home. This is back by popular demand!
Course cost: £160 which includes all materials, a delicious home cooked lunch and refreshments throughout the day
Course places are limited to 12 on each day.
